Do Arsenal have what it takes to win the Premier League title?

Arsenal fans were treated to plenty of success during Arsene Wenger’s first ten years at the helm but the Gunners just haven’t been good enough since lifting their third Premier League title back in 2004. Many supporters believe that this could finally be Arsenal’s year – and Wenger’s men have looked very sharp throughout their impressive pre-season although some have criticised the team’s temperament. Others feel that the Gunners still need another option in attacking areas… and based on last season’s efforts, you’d have to say they were right.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Arsenal have to sign another striker. Olivier Giroud isn’t reliable and it would be foolish for Wenger to rely on his compatriot to net goals on a weekly basis. Yes he performed well at this summer’s European Championships but the Premier League is a different competition. Giroud just isn’t good enough to score 20 goals in a season; and that is what the Gunners need right now. Wenger needs consistency – he doesn’t have the time to plan too far ahead…

One viable suggestion is Alexandre Lacazette. The Lyon striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer and Arsenal may have to fight off competition from West Ham United in order to sign the Frenchman. Lacazette was on fire last season and if he can fight off a recent injury scare, he would certainly help to excite fans at the forefront of the Gunners attack. With a talented, consistent prospect up front, Arsenal supporters will fancy their chances and many will head to Ticketgum.com to book their seat ahead of the new campaign. In midfield, Arsenal are looking very strong. In fact, you could argue that they may even boast the strongest unit in the top flight. The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey and Alex Iwobi are all maturing into fantastic talents and the Gunners will have plenty of energy and creativity in the side next season – no matter who makes Wenger’s starting line-up. On their day, Arsenal are capable of dominating opposing teams from start to finish and a proven goal scorer will give them the best chance of earning convincing victories throughout the season.

While Riyad Mahrez probably won’t join the Gunners this summer, Arsenal have shown enough to suggest that they could finally get their hands back on the title this season. When it comes down to it, we will find out more about their ability to come good when the going gets tough but on paper, Arsenal have plenty of mettle and should be able to cope with the intense pressure of a Premier League title challenge. With a top striker at the forefront of the attack, the Gunners could be set for a very exciting year…
