Andre Wisdom has completed a loan move to Red Bull Salzburg, it was announced on Wednesday.

Liverpool announced on their website that the defender has joined the Austrian club in a season-long loan deal.

The 23-year-old is not a part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans this season and the former England Under-21 international will now aim for regular first-team football at Salzburg.

The Liverpool academy graduate still has three years remaining on his current contract but will spend the 2016/17 season looking for first-team experience.

He’s been given the number 47 shirt at Salzburg and was pictured on the club’s official Twitter page on Wednesday morning.

Wisdom can play at either centre-back or right-back but Klopp has those positions locked down.

Centre-backing pairing Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip were both recruited to Anfield this summer, and Dejan Lovren is a first-choice starter.

Nathaniel Clyne has also cemented his position at right-back.

Wisdom spent last season at relegated Premier League side Norwich, but made just 14 appearances in all competitions.

The Leeds-born defender has played 22 matches for Liverpool, after moving from Bradford City’s youth academy in 2008 at the age of just 14.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Christian Benteke has opened up on Klopp’s regime at the club.
