Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a concerted attempt to sign Philippe Coutinho, according to a report.

French publication Le 10 Sport has claimed that the cash-rich Europeans had an initial £20million bid for the Liverpool playmaker rejected out of hand by manager Jurgen Klopp during the summer window.

But it is said the French capital side’s interest has not cooled and that they could return for the Anfield star next year.

Coutinho has four years remaining on his current deal at Liverpool and has become a key figure in the team since signing in January 2013.

The attacker has started the new campaign in impressive form, providing three assists and scoring four goals in eight fixtures.

He has been pivotal to the Reds’ good start to the season and Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently placed in fourth, two points from top of the league Manchester City.

The Merseysiders have scored an impressive 18 league goals from their first seven fixtures in the new campaign and they face fierce rivals Manchester United on Monday.

The two famous English clubs will meet at Anfield, which will see a battle between fourth and sixth place.

In other Liverpool transfer news, the Reds are interested in signing Burnley defender Michael Keane.
