Romelu Lukaku’s former side RSC Anderlecht have congratulated the striker on Twitter following his hat-trick for Everton against Sunderland.
The 23-year-old netted a second half hat-trick with eleven minutes between the first and third goal as the Toffees overcame the Black Cats in a 3-0 victory.
Lukaku broke through the youth system at Anderlecht, making his debut at the age of 16 and the Belgian side congratulated their former young star on the club’s official Twitter account.
“And one, and two, and three! Romelu Lukaku on fire! Congratulations Sportingboy!,” wrote Anderlecht to the Toffees star.
Lukaku won the Belgian Pro League while with Anderlecht and was named as the Belgian Pro League top goalscorer for the 2009-10 season after scoring 15 league goals in 25 encounters.
The powerful striker bagged 41 goals in 98 fixtures in total for the Belgian giants before leaving for England with Chelsea in an £18million deal in 2011.
He failed to net a goal in 15 appearances while at Stamford Bridge, spending loan spells at West Brom and Everton before moving to the Toffees permanently in 2014 for a club-record £28million fee.
His goals against Sunderland brought the end to a goal drought extending all the way back to March and he will be hoping he can now kick start a scoring run in front of goal with newly promoted Middlesbrough coming up next.
In other Everton team news, Lukaku has bagged more goals at the age of 23 than Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez had at the same age.
