Arsenal have been dealt another blow with potential transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang insisting the only club he would join is Real Madrid.

Earlier in the year, talkSPORT reported that Arsene Wenger was prepared to break the club’s transfer record and sign the Borussia Dortmund forward for a fee of £65 million.

Those wishes now appear to have been crushed, with the Gabon forward informing German TV that he would only leave Germany for Spanish giants Real Madrid.

“Only Real Madrid would be able to get me out of Borussia Dortmund,” Aubameyang told German TV station ZDF as cited by Squawka. “That’s the reality, but right now there’s nothing at all.”

The 27-year-old enjoyed a stellar season in 2015-16 as he notched up 25 goals in 31 Bundesliga games, an achievement which saw him being linked with a number of European clubs during this current transfer window.

Wenger has already missed out on another striker target with Napoli’s Gonzalo Higuian set to seal a £79 million move to Serie A rivals Juventus.

The Frenchman will be looking to add firepower to his attacking line after missing out on another Premier League title last term.

In other Arsenal transfer news, a French club are set to approach the Gunners for their £12m rated defender.
