Sergio Aguero could miss Manchester City’s Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday, according to a report.

The Scottish Sun have claimed that the 28-year-old could miss the match at the Etihad Stadium after picking up an injury with national side Argentina.

The prolific forward picked up a calf strain in their 2-2 draw with Peru, and was replaced after 73 minutes by Ever Banega.

He is set to go for a scan on Tuesday and is a major doubt for Argentina’s next match against Paraguay on Wednesday.

The injury will hit City with a huge blow with Aguero recently returning from a suspension.

He has started the season in incredible form, bagging 11 goals in eight appearances in all competitions and he would have been a huge threat to the Toffees.

The striker scored the last time the two side’s met in January during a 3-1 Manchester City win in the League Cup.

It is likely that youngster Kelechi Iheanacho will now lead the line against Everton with the 20-year-old bagging three goals and providing three in eight fixtures this campaign.

Despite Aguero’s possible omission from the side, attacker Nolito is set to return from a three-game suspension, while star man Kevin De Bruyne could also recover from injury in time to face the Toffees.

In other Everton news, Jose Mourinho sent scouts to watch star Toffees duo Romelu Lukaku and Seamus Coleman last week during a clash against Crystal Palace.
