Everton are preparing to enter a January battle for Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, according to a report.

The Mirror claims that manager Ronald Koeman has identified the 24-year-old as a winter target, as he looks to add more firepower to his team.

However, Premier League rivals West Ham are also said to be planning a move for the Cherries ace given their current forward issues.

The former England Under-21 international suffered a devastating anterior cruciate ligament injury in the last campaign, ruling him out for seven months of the season.

But, he is considered so key to Eddie Howe’s side that they rewarded him with a new deal in July that is set to expire in 2020.

This is said to have pushed his value upwards of £20million, but given Farhad Moshiri’s new millions at the club he may still be within the Toffees price range.

Wilson has played 15 times for Bournemouth this campaign, scoring five goals.

He could prove a vital addition to Everton, who have only Romelu Lukaku on more than five goals in all competitions this campaign.

The Merseyside club are currently occupying eighth in the Premier League table, putting an end to a poor run of form with a 2-1 victory over Arsenal in midweek.

They are now preparing for a crucial derby clash with local rivals Liverpool on Monday evening.

Football Insider verdict:

Wilson could prove a very worth addition for the goal shy Toffees in the winter. The striker has a highly impressive goal record throughout his career, currently standing at 33 goals in 78 appearances for Bournemouth. His pace and direct running would add another option to Everton’s attack, which now only contains powerful forward Lukaku. New owner Moshiri showed in the summer that he was willing to pay big fees, splashing out a huge £25million to obtain Yannick Bolasie. He must now do the same in the winter to ensure Everton can stay in with a chance of qualifying for European football next season.

In other Everton transfer news, the Toffees are to hold talks in the winter for this £35million-rated playmaker.
