Tom Cleverley was used as a second-half substitute against West Ham – and Everton fans were furious with the decision to use the midfielder.

The Toffees recorded a comfortable 2-0 home victory in the Premier League and strengthened their hold on sixth-placed in the table, now just five points behind league leaders Manchester City.

Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley scored second-half goals and Everton cruised to three points.

Ronald Koeman’s side have bounced back from the shock 2-1 defeat to Burnley and continue their chase for a European position.

Everton supporters were angry that Cleverley replaced Kevin Mirallas as a substitute and feel they had greater options on the bench.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The Everton fans feel that Gerard Deulofeu or Aaron Lennon would have made a better impact, with the latter coming on in the 87th minute.

Cleverley completed a move to Goodison Park in the summer of 2015 following his release from Premier League giants Manchester United.

He has made 39 appearances for the Toffees as he looks to rejuvenate his career after dropping from the top.

In other Everton team news, the club’s supporters reacted on Twitter to Ramiro Funes Mori’s inclusion against West Ham.
