It’s been a mixed response from Everton’s Twitter following after it emerged that they had made a club-record swoop for Belgian central midfielder Axel Witsel.
The Goodison Park club have reportedly agreed a £30million fee for the Belgium international and the player’s dad has confirmed their interest in an interview.
The Zenit St. Petersburg midfielder’s father and agent Thierry Witsel has told Radio CRC that Everton are very interested in the 27-year-old.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been given a hefty transfer budget to spend, but Everton fans are unsure whether spending £30million on Witsel is the right move.
A mixed reaction for Witsel then, who played for Benfica before moving to Russia in 2012. Manager Ronald Koeman is looking to bring in central midfielders and has also been linked with a £20million bid for Morgan Schneiderlin.
The 27-year-old, who is known for his trademark afro haircut, had was successful with 92 per cent of his passes last night and could form a strong partnership in the middle of the pitch with James McCarthy.
