Everton have been linked with a move for Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, and Toffees fans on Twitter would welcome his arrival.

The Mirror claimed on Sunday evening that manager Ronald Koeman was planning a double raid  on the Old Trafford club with Memphis Depay and Schneiderlin the targets.

Both players are on the fringes of Jose Mourinho’s team and with the pair being international players, they could be interested in a way out of Manchester.

Schneiderlin, who played under Koeman at Southampton has received much of the attention from fans on social media, with many keen to bring him to Goodison Park.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Schneiderlin, 27, has made just seven appearances for Manchester United this campaign after signing for a £25million fee in the summer of 2015.

He has now been in England for eight years, joining Southampton as a 19-year-old in 2008 and he has made 307 appearances in the country, playing in League One, the Championship and the Premier League.

Koeman may be looking at him as the ideal replacement for the 35-year-old Gareth Barry, while the pair will also know each other well after the Dutch manager convinced him to stay another year, following a Twitter outburst on the south coast.

In other Everton transfer news, this £100,000-a-week attacker has spoken of his desire to join the Toffees.
