Everton will look to further bolster their defensive options with the addition of Aymen Abdennour from Valencia, according to a report.
Valencia news website Deporte Valenciano claims that the Merseysiders are eyeing up the centre-back as they look to bring in another defender following the exit of John Stones.
It is said the Spanish giants will demand up to £19million for Abdennour, 27.
Abdennour joined Valencia at the end of last summer’s transfer window for £18.5million from Monaco, and has formed a strong partnership with Arsenal target Skodran Mustafi.
The Turkish international played 29 times for Valencia last season as they finished 12th in the La Liga.
Everton are still in the market for new centre back after selling the highly-rated John Stones on Tuesday to Manchester City, for a reported £47.5 million fee that demolished Everon’s transfer record.
They directly replaced Stones with Swansea captain Ashley Williams, who arrived at Goodison Park this week on a three-year deal.
Wales skipper Williams has become the third senior summer arrival at the Toffees this summer after the captures of Idrissa Gueye and Martin Stekelenburg.
They are also looking to further their defensive options with the addition of Lamine Kone from Sunderland.
The Black Cats are reluctant to sell the centre-back, but he handed in a transfer request on Thursday evening.
In a statement on Thursday, Kone claimed that an expected improved contract offer had failed to materialise and that he had concluded he was not part of David Moyes’ plans.
In other Everton transfer news, they receive a big blow as their defensive target drops a transfer hint on Instagram.
