Everton are weighing up a move for Ajax teenage star Kasper Dolberg after he scored an 18-minute hat-trick on Sunday, according to a report.
Aged just 19, the Danish forward struck three goals during the first half during Ajax’s landmark 5-0 triumph against NEC Nijmegen.
The Daily Mirror claim that Dolberg, who has been likened to Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovich after being spotted by the same scout, is likely to be the subject of an Everton bid in just under two months’ time.
Dolberg has been in magnificent form for Ajax after breaking into the first team, scoring 11 goals in 21 league and cup appearances despite his tender age.
His superb form has even seen him earn his first full international cap, after coming off the bench to play for the last 10 minutes in Denmark’s 4-1 win over Kazakhstan.
Ajax could price Ronald Koeman’s side out of a move though, as Dolberg still has five years left on his deal with the Dutch giants.
Wearing the number 25 shirt, Dolberg is still a new signing at the Amsterdam Arena, after moving from Swedish outfit Silkeborg in the summer.
Standing at just over 6ft 1in, Dolberg possesses a physical presence that is twinned with an eye for goal and quick turn of pace.
Football Insider verdict:
A move for highly-rated youngster Dolberg would make sense from manager Koeman. With Oumar Niasse and Enner Valencia failing to impress at Goodison Park during their short stays in Merseyside, Romelu Lukaku is still without major competition for the centre-forward role. The signing of Dolberg would provide Lukaku with that competition, and could even begin to force Lukaku to perform to a higher standard. With cash-rich Everton set to hand Koeman a substantial transfer kitty in forthcoming windows, money does not appear to be a problem and the signing of Dolberg would be a huge statement of intent as he is regarded as one of the hottest emerging stars in European football right now.
