Everton have rejected a £57million bid from Chelsea for striker Romelu Lukaku, according to a report.

The Mirror claims that the Toffees are holding out for a staggering £75million for the 23-year-old Belgian.

The report says that Everton chiefs have finally accepted that they will lose their star player this summer and are now holding out for the biggest transfer fee they can negotiate.

Chelsea’s interest in singing Lukaku was thought to have cooled following the acquisition of Michy Batshuayi in the current transfer window, but Antonio Conte’s new bid for Lukaku is more than double the £28m the Merseyside Park outfit received for him when he moved to Goodison Park in the summer of 2014.

It is believed that the 23-year-old striker has told people close to him that he has unfinished business at Chelsea and is willing to go back this summer.

Lukaku is in demand after scoring an impressive 25 goals in all competitions in what was a disappointing 2015/15 season under manager Roberto Martinez.

The highest transfer fee the Merseyside club have received for a player is the £27.5million from Manchester United for Marouane Fellaini, with the potential Chelsea fee almost double that.

Everton’s number 10, who moved to Chelsea from Anderlecht back in 2011, is himself Everton’s record signing, joining permanently from the west Londoners for £28million two years ago.

In other Everton transfer news, the Toffees are lining up a move for Porto defender Bruno Martins Indi.
