Everton are expected to return to Swansea with a new and improved offer of £15million for Ashley Williams, according to a report.

The Toffees had a £10million bid rejected for the Wales captain and Euro 2016 star on Tuesday.

Sky Sports now claim on their website that Everton manager Ronald Koeman is set to make a second bid for the Wolverhampton-born star.

The report states that Swansea insist that the 31-year-old is going nowhere, with two years still remaining on his Liberty Stadium deal.

But Everton remain very interested despite the stance of the Welsh club as they prepare for the likely departure of John Stones to Manchester City.

A Swansea spokesman said earlier this week: “Ashley Williams is an important part of our squad and club and we are not looking to sell him, and therefore we have turned down the offer currently on the table.”

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol revealed that a deal could be struck this week for Stones as Everton are in talks with City over a £50million transfer.

Doubts also remain over the future of Ramiro Funes-Mori who has been linked with a move to Serie A giants Roma according to Italian publication Gazzetta World, which has encouraged Koeman to enter the market for Williams.

The former Stockport defender is now widely regarded as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League, starting all but two of Swansea’s 38 league matches last season.

Williams is about to enter his tenth season as a Swansea player, after signing for the Swans in the 2007-08 season.

In other Everton transfer news, this midfielder is about to complete a deal after finalising terms with the Toffees,
