Mike Phelan believes that it will take a good side to stop Liverpool this season.

The Reds have started the campaign in great form and are currently fourth in the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have scored 24 goals in just eight competitive matches this season, including eight of them against Burton and Derby in the EFL Cup.

Phelan, who won the Premier League title with Manchester United, witnessed his Hull side crash to a 5-1 defeat to Liverpool on Saturday.

The Hull caretaker manager feels that Jurgen Klopp has transformed the Merseyside club into a great side, as quoted by the Echo.

“What we have seen of Liverpool is they are strong and determined,” said Phelan.“They have a method of playing which Jurgen has brought in which is different from what they’ve had before, and right now they are flying.

“It will take a decent team to beat them. But we’re only six games into the season. They have a squad that’s really, really up there with the other top squads.”

Liverpool have been installed as second favourites for the title after a blistering start to the season.

Summer signing Sadio Mane has impressed alongside team-mates Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho in attack.

Jurgen Klopp became manager at Anfield last October and his side have now begun to match his attacking philosophy.

Manchester City are the only side to outscore Liverpool in the league this season and are favourites for the title.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently have a 100 per cent league record and Liverpool will have to wait until New Year’s Eve to face them.

In other Liverpool news, Jamie Redknapp has claimed that the club’s player reminds him of Steve Nicol.
