Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo has returned to training after missing almost three months due to an injury picked up in pre-season, according to a report.

The 19-year-old suffered a stress fracture in his back during the summer but will carry out light training as he makes a big step on his way to full recovery, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Ojo played a key role in Liverpool’s pre-season campaign in the UK before flying out with Jurgen Klopp’s squad to America to continue their summer preparations.

The youngster picked up the injury while in America and was expected to be out for just a month but his return was delayed.

The academy graduate enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2015-16 despite being sent out on loan to Wigan in 2014 and then Wolves at the start of the season.

Following his successful loan spell, he was recalled by Klopp in January 2016 and went on to make 11 first team appearances.

Ojo has impressed as a pacey winger and the 19-year-old will be hoping to make an impression on Klopp again this season upon his return.

He is a valued member of the national set up too, featuring heavily for England’s Under-19s during their European Championship semi-final feat in the summer.
