Fans on Twitter have identified Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as the person to take over the reigns as England boss after Sam Allardyce departed from the role on Tuesday.

The Argentine boss has spent three years in England after taking over the Southampton job in 2013.

He had a successful year and a half in charge of the south coast club, ensuring their safety and then progressing them to a top half side.

He moved to north London in 2014 with Tottenham and ensured that they finished in third place after a successful campaign last season.

Many fans believe that Pochettino is the perfect man to take over the job from Allardyce, with some highlighting that a lot of the Spurs side are also in the England setup.

Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Tottenham currently have five senior England international’s in their side with Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Dele Alli in the team.

As well as those five, Pochettino has also managed trio Nathaniel Clyne, Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana while in charge at St Mary’s.

However, it may be difficult to attract Pochettino from White Hart Lane with his side currently battling in the Champions League among other reasons.

In other Tottenham news, Ossie Ardiles has revealed he is worried about the club’s summer signing.
