Arsenal fans reacted with sympathy on Twitter after Oliver Giroud was sent off in the team’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
The France international was given a second yellow card after an altercation with PSG stars Marquinhos and Marco Veratti, despite only entering the field of play 30 minutes beforehand.
Giroud, who has come under criticism for his fiery temper in the past, was pushed by Brazilian defender Marquinhos after what seemed to be an accidental collision with midfielder Veratti.
Italy international Veratti also saw red for his involvement in the dispute, with only a minute left on the clock during the 1-1 draw.
Fans have reacted with sympathy towards the former Montpellier striker, with many Gunners fans claiming that he was undeserving of a red card.

Feel for Giroud – seemed crowd & refs had it in for him. Needs to learn to keen his mouth shut at times though! But red very harsh. #AFC

The 29-year-old has largely played second fiddle to Chilean Alexis Sanchez this season, making just three substitute appearances for the Gunners. The arrival of Spanish goal machine Lucas Perez is also likely to limit Giroud’s playing time.
Arsenal’s number 12 moved to North London in the summer of 2012 in a £13million deal and he still has two years left on his current contract, after scoring 82 goals in 190 league and cup encounters for the Gunners.
