Jordan Ayew played the full 90 minutes for Ghana against Egypt on Sunday afternoon, and supporters on Twitter weren’t impressed with the display of the Aston Villa man.
The 25-year-old started alongside brother Andre Ayew, as Avran Grant’s side fell to a 2-0 defeat.
Goals from former Chelsea man Mohamed Salah and Abdalla El Said ensured a victory in the World Cup qualifying group, which has seen Egypt move to the top.
Ghana are now sat in third place in the group with one point from two fixtures, currently sat behind Uganda and five points behind leaders Egypt.
The display of Ayew received the most criticism from the country’s support with many claiming he shouldn’t be in the team on social media.
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Ayew made the switch to Aston Villa in an £8million deal from French side Lorient in the summer of 2015.
He was unable to stop the Midlands giants from suffering relegation in the last campaign and has made 15 appearances for the club this season scoring three goals and providing four assists.
Under new manager Steve Bruce the club are currently experiencing a spell of good form and they will travel to second placed Brighton on Friday evening.
In other Aston Villa news, Bruce shared this club realisation.
