Fans reacted with surprise on Twitter as a statistic revealed that Joe Allen has been involved in more Premier League goals this season that Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic combined.

The former Liverpool midfielder has been in excellent form for Stoke since joining them for £13 million this summer after he fell out-of-favour at Liverpool.

The Welshman was one of the stars of the European Championships as he helped his national side reach the semi-finals of the competition.

On his return he sealed the move to the Britania Stadium and has already scored four goals in his opening 10 league appearances, three more than Pogba and the same amount as Ibrahimovic.

Jose Mourinho spent up to £89 million on Paul Pogba this summer, as he was tipped to become the best signing of the season.

The former Juventus midfielder was regarded as one of the best players in the world but the Frenchman has been disappointing since returning to Old Trafford.

The statistic, which was tweeted by Squawka Football, caused a stir on the social media website as opposing fans found it highly amusing to compare Allen with Pogba.
