Stats show that Kyle Walker has been Tottenham’s outstanding defender recently and has even bettered team-mate Toby Alderweireld.
Spurs announced on Friday morning that Walker had agreed a new contract, which keeps him at the club until 2021.
The 26-year-old has committed his long-term future to the Londoners and has become a crucial player under Mauricio Pochettino.
Sky Sports have revealed that Walker is ranked as the club’s best defender in terms of interceptions, tackles, assists and chances created since August 2015.
Spurs achieved an incredible third-placed finish last season, with the club’s defenders Alderweireld and Danny Rose both named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Walker missed out to Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin in the team but it has been revealed how crucial he is to the backline.
The England international has cemented his position as Spurs’ first-choice right-back, with Kieran Trippier acting as his understudy.
He moved to White Hart Lane in 2009 after leaving Sheffield United and has gone on to make 196 appearances for Spurs.
Alderweireld has been phenomenal since his arrival and built a great partnership with compatriot Jan Vertonghen in the heart of defence, surprisingly it the Englishman who tops the stats.
Walker is a constant attacking threat down the right hand side and has also improved the defensive side of his game.
In other Tottenham team news, this senior ace has shared how Vincent Janssen’s body language convinced him to make key decision.
