Former Newcastle United star Hatem Ben Arfa will complete a transfer to Sevilla at the end of this week, according to a report.

Football website Goal claim that the 29-year-old will sign a three-year deal with the Spanish outfit after deciding not to renew his Nice contract.

The move is expected to bring the French international a staggering £8.2million signing-on fee.

Magpie fans will have mixed memories of Ben Arfa after his time on Tyneside was hampered by inconsistent form.

The occasional flashes of brilliance from the tricky winger were interspersed with fitful displays and lengthy spells out injured before he left the club in 2015.

It is believed that the former Lyon star had been holding out for a transfer to Paris Saint-Germain but has settled for a move to Spain after the French giants showed little interest in a move.

Ben Arfa finished this season in impressive form after guiding Nice to a fourth placed finish in Ligue 1, bagging 17 goals and six assists in 34 appearances.

The versatile forward can play as a winger, attacking midfielder and as a striker and despite his good performances this season, failed to make it to this summer’s European Championships with France.

Ben Arfa will now link up with new Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli as he prepares for the start of the 2016/17 La Liga season.
