Frank Lampard has insisted that Eden Hazard needs “help” from Chelsea to rediscover his electrifying form of last season.
The Blues legend is convinced that the reigning Footballer of the Year can once again reach the heights if he is given the support of the club and the staff.
Speaking about Hazard, Lampard said: “You need to go with him, put your arm around him and help him get back to the level.
“I love Eden Hazard as a player. I was fortunate enough to play with him. His ability is frightening. I would agree about his level this year but I think he needs help.
“We forget that he is a young boy who has come on to the scene in the last couple of years. He has never had a moment like this is in his career. He has never had to worry. He was the difference for Chelsea last year.
“Maybe he needs a bit of help. He looks like a player down on his confidence. I know he is a very good lad.”
Asked on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football if Hazard, who has not yet scored this season, should be taken out of the firing line, Lampard replied: “I don’t know about a rest. I’d like to see him playing regularly. He has to work hard to get out of this. Make no mistake about that.
“If Chelsea are to turn the corner and get towards the Champions League positions, which Chelsea have to as a club, they need Eden Hazard at his best, without a doubt.
“You have to go with him, put your arm around him and try and help him get back to that level, which you know he can do.
“Hazard is probably one of the best players in the world, that was proven last year because he was the best player in the Premier League quite comfortable, but he’s not going to be a big vocal man. He’s a man to get on the ball and make things happen.”
