Gabby Agbonlahor has posted an Instagram message posing with teammate Aaron Tshibola ahead of Aston Villa’s clash against Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.
The 30-year-old striker, who returned to first-team action against rivals Birmingham City last Sunday, seemed in a happy mood ahead of the weekend clash.
Steve Bruce pulled off a surprise move as he named the highly-criticised player on the bench in the second City derby, where he made an impressive ten-minute cameo appearance.
Agbonlahor had not previousl featured for the Championship side this season as the recently sacked Villa manager Roberto Di Matteo banished him from first-team duties.
However, Bruce has offered the club’s longest serving player a clean slate as he is now currently undertaking a six-week fitness programme.
It remains to be seen whether he is selected for the weekend clash at Villa Park, but he did feature for 65 minutes as the under-23s beat Rovers 4-0 on Tuesday night.
Agbonlahor has made 371 appearances for his boyhood club scoring 84 goals in 371 games, with the majority of those coming in the Premier League.
In other Aston Villa team news, Sky Sports pundit Ian Holloway has backed Steve Bruce’s side to beat Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.
