Gareth Barry has selected his long-range strike against Tottenham for Aston Villa as his favourite goal for the midlands outfit.
The now 35-year-old has made the most Premier League appearances of any player currently in England’s top flight, starring in 605 encounters for Villa, Manchester City and Everton respectively.
Reflecting on his career in an interview with Sky Sports, Barry selected some of his favourite moments over his 18-year professional career, which included a long-range stunner against Spurs at Villa Park.
“My favourite goal for Villa was against Spurs,” stated Barry in his Sky Sports interview. “We drew 1-1, I’ll always remember that, curled it with my right foot.”
Barry, who joined Aston Villa from Brighton as a trainee in 1997 enjoyed 12 years at the club and even became the captain of the side before heading to Manchester in a £12million deal.
The midfielder made 439 appearances for the now Championship side in all competitions during his time at the club and established himself as a firm fan favourite before heading to the Etihad Stadium.
He is now not showing any signs of age either as he looks to add to his impressive appearance total, making 10 appearances for the Toffees this season and scoring two goals from his more defensive position.
In other Aston Villa news, this attacking ace will miss Saturday’s clash against Blackburn Rovers.
