Gary Gardner expressed his delight on Twitter following Aston Villa’s win on Saturday.

Villa earned a narrow 1-0 home win against Fulham in the Championship, with Jonathan Kodjia scoring a fantastic volley in the 80th minute.

Steve Bruce has made a great start as Villa manager, picking up two wins and one draw from his opening three games.

He replaced Roberto Di Matteo at the Midlands club and has helped them rise to 16th in the Championship table, five points clear now of the play-off places.

Midfielder Gardner revealed his delight with as Villa made it two consecutive wins.

“Buzzing. Six points in a week that feels better! Great support today again,” Gardner wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Villa have made a positive start under their new manager Bruce and will hope to match their pre-season tag as promotion candidates.

Gardner, 24, played the full 90 minutes against Fulham and he is continuing to fight for his place in the team.

The central midfielder has now made nine appearances this season, but is yet to register a goal or an assist.

He acted as a protective screen on Saturday in front of the back four and did enough to restrict the Fulham attack.
