Gary Lineker has stated that he believes Ronald Koeman “will do a really good job” with Everton.

The Netherlands boss made the switch to Goodison Park from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer.

He has currently got the Toffees sat in seventh place after 11 fixtures and Match of the Day host, Lineker believes he is already making progress with the side.

“He got off to a great start and obviously the results haven’t been quite as brilliant in the last few weeks but you can see he’s making progress,” told Lineker to the Everton Show, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo. “It’s early days but I think he’ll do a really good job here.

“I think he always gives honest assessments of his team’s performances and the opposition performances. He knows he’s dealing with a pretty educated footballing audience in this country so you can’t kid them a long a little bit.”

The Toffees are looking to improve on a disappointing 11th placed finish from the last campaign, which ultimately cost former manager Roberto Martinez his job.

Koeman added five senior players into his squad in the summer, which includes Ashley Williams, Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye.

They will face Swansea at home after the international break, who are currently sat in the relegation zone.
