Gary Lineker has commended Leicester for shutting out Manchester City on Monday night.

Claudio Ranieri’s team drew 0-0 for the first time this season as they claimed a point against a team that many consider to be the favourites to win the Premier League title.

The King Power Stadium rang with applause afterwards as the home supporters expressed their satisfaction that their team had prevented City’s expensively-assembled front line from scoring.

It was a view echoed by former Leicester striker Lineker, who said on Twitter immediately afterwards, ‘Well played Leicester. Bloody good effort’.

Leicester  finish 2015 joint top of the Premier League, but they are in second place, behind leaders Arsenal on goal difference.

By contrast, City are in third position in the table, where they lie three points adrift of the two pacesetters.
