Gary Neville believes Manchester United should try to sign Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

The 25-year-old is renowned as one of the biggest stars in world football after starring for France at Euro 2016 with six goals as he inspired his country’s progression to the final.

During a Q & A with fans on his personal Twitter account, Neville claimed that Griezmann is the La Liga player that United “should go for most”.

Griezmann, who can play as a number 10, out wide or as a centre forward, won third place at this year’s Ballon d’Or behind Lionel Messi and winner Cristiano Ronaldo.

Since his move to Diego Simeone’s Spanish giants, Griezmann has propelled to one of the world’s best with 66 league and cup strikes in just 111 starts.

The signing of the France international could spell the end for captain Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford, as Griezmann would take up the number 10 role behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic alongside national teammate Paul Pogba.

According to The Sun, Atletico’s number seven has a release clause at the Vicente Calderon worth £85.5million and a move to Old Trafford would see him become the second most expensive player in the world behind Pogba.

If the release clause is met, Atletico would not be able to prevent Griezmann from talking to United despite having five years remaining on his current deal.

In other Manchester United news, Neville has also named five players that have been key to United’s transformation.
