Gary Stevens has stated on Twitter that he is “looking forward to Tottenham grabbing their opportunity in Monaco “with both hands” ahead of their Tuesday evening clash.
The north London outfit will travel to the south of France for their Champions League Group E fixture.
Spurs are currently sat in third place with four points and sit two points behind Bayer Leverkusen in second and four points behind top of the group Monaco.
Tottenham have just two fixtures left to play in the group stage of the competition and could face elimination if they fail to pick up a win and the result in the Bayer Leverkusen match goes against them.
However, former player Stevens, who stayed at Spurs for seven years between 1983 and 1990, stated on his personal Twitter account that he believes Mauricio Pochettino’s side have what it takes to get a result.
A win would be huge for Tottenham and will be guaranteed to leave them one point behind Monaco with a fixture against bottom-of-the-group CSKA Moscow at Wembley left to play.
They will also be heading into the fixture against the Ligue 1 outfit in good spirits after claiming their first win after a seven match winless run on Saturday with a 3-2 victory over West Ham.
