Marcus Edwards starred for Tottenham’s academy side as they beat Borussia Dortmund Under-19s – and the club’s supporter were raving about him on Twitter.

The 18-year-old attacker captained Spurs as they beat the German side 4-0 in the UEFA Youth League on Wednesday afternoon.

He managed to get on the scoresheet twice as he opened the rout with a penalty, before scoring the last goal of the match with a left-footed finish on the edge of the box.

Edwards is a highly-rated talent at the North London club and is being tipped to make a major breakthrough.

The right winger is renowned for his brilliant pace and trickery, which has already caught the eye of senior manager Mauricio Pochettino.

He has one first-team appearance under his belt as he came off the bench against Gillingham in the League Cup last season.

Spurs fans were blown away with Edwards’ performance against Dortmund and some even suggested that he should be involved in the senior encounter on Wednesday night.

Pochettino’s senior team host Dortmund at Wembley at 7:45pm and will be looking to make a good start in their Champions League group.

Harry Kane is a shinning example in recent years of an academy graduate breaking into the Spurs team and Edwards will hope to following in the same footsteps.

The attacker is already a big feature in England’s youth teams and helped win the Under-19s European Championships over the summer.

He will be hoping a first-team breakthrough is just around the corner and may have one eye on Spurs’ League Cup fixture with Barnsley next Tuesday.
