Giorginio Wijnaldum celebrated on Twitter as his Netherlands teammate, Jeremain Lens, scored a winning goal against Manchester United on Thursday evening.

Lens netted Fenerbahce’s second goal as the Turkish side defeated Manchester United 2-1 in their Europa League group stage clash.

Moussa Sow opened the scoring after just 66 seconds as Jose Mourinho’s side had a very disappointing night as the Turkish side extended their unbeaten home run in Europe to eight games.

United attempted a late comeback, with Wayne Rooney scoring in the 89th minute but overall, it was a poor display from Mourinho’s side.

Wijnaldum joined Liverpool this summer for £25 million from Newcastle and has become an important player under Jurgen Klopp.

He features regularly for the Netherlands too but picked up an injury on his last international outing against France in October.

Lens is currently on loan from Sunderland and has notched up five appearances for Fenerbahce in the Turkish league this season.

The Dutchman hasn’t featured for his national team since October 2015 during a 3-2 defeat against Czech Republic but Wijnaldum showed his support for his countryman during the United loss.

The Liverpool midfielder has become a well-liked figure at Anfield since making the switch from Newcastle and his latest Tweet will only enhance his popularity with a dig against the Merseyside rivals, United.
