Graham Roberts revealed his delight on Twitter after Hugo Lloris signed a new contract on Thursday.

Spurs announced the deal on their official website and the 29-year-old is now set to stay at White Hart Lane until 2022.

The experienced goalkeeper has pledged his long-term future to the north London club and will hope to help them challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are currently 10 points adrift of table toppers Chelsea, but will be boosted by Lloris’ new contract.

Ex-Spurs player Roberts is thrilled that Lloris has agreed a new deal and believes he is a top performer.

“Fantastic news on Hugo what a keeper he is. Also how can you not love a Poch new contract extension signing,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Lloris has been Spurs’ number one goalkeeper for several seasons following his arrival in 2012 from Lyon.

The France international has kept 65 clean sheets in 189 appearances and is regarded as one of the club’s star players.

He is currently ahead of Dutchman Michel Vorm in the pecking order and has made 21 appearances across all competitions this season.

Lloris has come to the rescue of his defence on several occasions and is a key reason behind Spurs boasting the second best defensive record in the Premier League.

The north London club have conceded just 12 goals in 17 games this campaign, with Chelsea (11) the only side who can better that record.

In other Tottenham news, the defeat against Chelsea is one of the club’s worst three moments in 2016.
