Graham Roberts believes that Kyle Walker fully deserves his new contract at Tottenham.
Spurs announced on their official Twitter account that the defender has agreed a new deal at White Hart Lane, which will expire in 2021.
The England international becomes the latest Spurs player to commit his future to the club, with Danny Rose, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen all extending their deals.
Tom Carroll and Harry Winks, who were selected in central midfield for Wednesday’s 5-0 League Cup win over Gillingham, also signed new contracts last week.
Spurs great Roberts revealed he fully supports the decision to hand Walker a new deal and believes he has been “superb” recently, as quoted by his personal Twitter account.
“Congrats to Kyle Walker on his new contract,” he said. “Been nothing short of superb the last two years very well deserved part of a top defence.”
Walker, 26, has become an integral part of the Spurs backline and is a member of a formidable defence alongside Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose.
The right-back moved to White Hart Lane in 2009 after leaving Sheffield United and has gone on to make 196 appearances for Spurs.
He has developed into an exceptional defender and is in competition with Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne for England’s right-back position.
Spurs currently boast the best defensive record in the league this season, with just two goals conceded, and will hope to continue their unbeaten start against Middlesbrough on Saturday.
In other Tottenham news, this youngster has been eyed by two teams after his stunning debut.
