Graham Roberts was thrilled that Toby Alderweireld has not picked up a serious injury for Tottenham.
The 27-year-old was stretchered off in the club’s 1-1 draw with West Brom on Saturday after a collision with teammate Jan Vertonghen.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed on Monday afternoon that Alderweireld is waiting for the result of his scan, but the club are not expecting a lengthy spell on the sidelines for the key defender.
The defender has been ruled out of the Champions League match against Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday.
Spurs legend Roberts was delighted with the latest fitness update and believes the centre-back is an “incredible competitor”.
“Delighted Toby Alderweireld news seems good what a player he is incredible competitor and a proper football he won’t want to miss a minute,” Roberts wrote on his personal Twitter account.

Alderweireld has become a Spurs favourite since he arrived at White Hart Lane in 2015.
The Belgian international has forged a commanding partnership alongside compatriot Vertonghen, which is widely regarded as one of the best centre-back combinations in the Premier League.
He has made 59 appearances for Spurs and played a major role in the club’s title challenge last season.
Alderweireld’s positive fitness news will come as a major boost to manager Pochettino and fans celebrated on Twitter the positive update.
In the meantime the Guardian claim claim Eric Dier will drop back from his usual midfield anchorman role to partner Vertonghen in defence, which may also be a hint towards Kevin Wimmer’s future at the club.
In other Tottenham news, Dele Alli has highlighted the area that the side need to improve on.
