Celtic strike duo Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele have paid tribute to the “incredible” Parkhead atmosphere in the wake of the club’s 5-2 win over Hapoel Beer-Sheva.

The Hoops have given themselves a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League group stages following their triumph over the Israeli side in the first match of the two-legged qualifier.

The Glasgow giants had already swept aside the Lincoln Red Imps and FC Astana before Wednesday night’s triumph to provide a springboard to a return to Europe’s elite competition.

Griffiths grabbed a first-half brace and substitute Dembele scored a header to mark a great night for the strikers.

The team-mates have both expressed their delight on Twitter following the win.

Brendan Rodgers’ side scored three first-half goals through a ninth minute Tom Rogić stike followed by two goals from Leigh Griffiths to put them in control of the game.

However the visitors grew into the match after two goals in two second-half minutes from Lucio Maranhão and Maor Melikson reduced the home side’s lead to just a single goal as the teams approached the hour mark.

However goals from new signing Demebele and Scott Brown gave the hosts a comfortable win on the night.

Rodgers will now be focused on his sides domestic fixture against St Johnstone in three days time.

Despite the arrival of the talented 20-year-old Dembele at Celtic Park it is the more experience Griffiths who continues to be the main forward in the side.

Griffiths, 25, led the line with huge success last season, bagging 40 goals and providing eight assists in 51 games in all competitions.

In other Celtic team news, Rodgers has outlined the dream for the club this season.
