Guillem Balague claims that Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is now good enough to play for either Barcelona or Real Madrid.
The Spanish giants have won the Champions League six times between them in the last 11 seasons and are widely regarded as the two top teams in Europe.
Coutinho, 24, has made a phenomenal start to the new season and helped Liverpool reach the summit of the Premier League.
The Brazilian international has forged a deadly attack alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with Jurgen Klopp’s team demonstrating a ruthless attacking style.
Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Balague believes that Coutinho is at a level good enough to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid.
“Last time I spoke about Coutinho a few months back, I thought he wasn’t ready for Barcelona or Madrid,” Balague said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “I can now see that he is the most talented player at Liverpool, he’s performing regularly, and is scoring. Yes, he is getting to that level where either Barca or Real can come for him.”
Coutinho has been in great form this campaign in his first 12 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and supplying six assists.
The playmaker has become a crucial part of the Reds attack and continued his success after being named the club’s Player of the Year last season.
He has become a firm favourite with the Merseyside fans since he arrived at Anfield from Inter Milan and has made 157 appearances so far.
Liverpool are now considered as serious title contenders this season and completed a 6-1 victory against Watford on Sunday before the international break, with Coutinho contributing a goal and an assist.
Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez are recent stars to leave the Premier League for the Spanish giants and Coutinho is believed to be good enough to replicate the pair.
In other Liverpool news, the club’s supporters have reacted on Twiter after agreements were reach on three emerging stars.
