Harry Redknapp has stated that Liverpool can “absolutely” win the Premier League title, but he does wonder whether the team’s defence is strong enough.

The Reds have started the new campaign in impressive form with 16 points from their first seven fixtures.

They currently sit in fourth place and two points from league leaders Manchester City and Redknapp believes that they can go all the way, but he has worries over the team’s defence.

When asked on TalkSport’s Drive Time show whether Liverpool could win the Premier League title, the experienced manager replied “Absolutely.”

“They’ve got outstanding players,” continued the former Premier League boss. “I just wonder if defensively they’re quite strong enough, I wonder if at centre-half they’re quite strong enough, but they’re going to be close and I think they’ll be up there this year. Great to see a fantastic football club like Liverpool challenging up there this year where they belong.”

Liverpool’s forwards have started the new campaign in fantastic form, scoring 18 goals in their opening fixtures, equalling the highest in the league with Manchester City totalling the same amount of goals.

However, down the other end of the pitch the Merseysiders have conceded 10 goals, which is the worst defensive record of the top 10 side’s in the Premier League.

Manager Jurgen Klopp added six senior players to his squad in the summer, as he looks to return his famous side to European football in the new campaign.
