Jordan Henderson has revealed that Jurgen Klopp’s pre-season preparations are the reason why Liverpool have started the season so well.

Liverpool currently sit in third position in the Premier League, level on points with Arsenal and Manchester City and are only seperated by goal difference.

The skipper has proven to be one of the team’s most consistent performances and has hailed the influence of Klopp on the team’s summer preparations.

“It was very good. The best pre-season I’ve done. It was purely based on training, fitness and what we wanted to get out of it,” Henderson told Sky Sports.

“Tactically and physically, it was very hard but enjoyable. The manager took control of the whole thing. He knew what he wanted and I definitely think he got what he wanted.”

The midfielder was plagued with injury last season, struggling through games with an on-going foot injury but still clocked up 20 league appearances throughout the campaign.

This season he has been in fantastic form so far, making 12 appearances and even netting a goal against Chelsea from the deep-lying midfield role he has adopted alongside Giorginio Wijnaldum.

The Reds have won seven of their first 10 Premier League fixtures, including impressive victories over Leicester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

In other Liverpool news, this academy ace could be given an opportunity to shine following Danny Ings’ career-ending injury.
