Liverpool star Jordan Henderson believes Dele Alli is perfectly suited to playing in the no. 10 position.
Alli, 20, shone in the role for England on Saturday evening as the Three Lions cantered to a 2-0 win against Malta at Wembley.
The Tottenham starlet scored for Gareth Southgate’s side after 38 minutes as England sealed their second World Cup qualifying win in group F.
“It was good,” Henderson told The Sun. “We worked on it during the week, but the no 10 role is perfect for Dele to go affect the game in the space.
“He likes to get on the ball and play one-twos and I thought he was brilliant in that respect, so that’s perfect for him.”
Alli developed into one of the most promising young players in the country last season as Spurs fought for their first top flight title since 1961.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side eventually finished third in the table behind north London rivals Arsenal and eventual winners Leicester City.
Tottenham have started this season in fine form, taking 17 points from their first seven matches.
Alli has played a starring role for his team, scoring two goals in nine games.
Pochettino’s side will now be preparing to face West Brom at the Hawthorns after the international break before travelling to Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
In other Tottenham news, Kevin Wimmer has admitted he is having a “difficult” time at Tottenham despite being told he’s the future of their defence – and fans on Twitter think he needs to careful about what he says.
