Jordan Rossiter and Danny Wilson have both been ruled out of Rangers clash against St. Johnstone on Wednesday night, according to a report.
The duo are still in the latter stages of returning to full fitness, but the Scottish Premiership clash is considered too soon for the former Liverpool stars.
The Scotland Herald revealed that both players will join Croatia international Niko Kranjcar on the sidelines, after the playmaker suffered what could be a long-term knee injury.
Midfielder Rossiter was expected to return to the Gers midfield against Celtic on Sunday in their 1-0 Betfred Cup semi final loss, but was ruled out as he continues his recovery with Rangers’ physios.
Wilson will find it tough to resume his place at the heart of the Rangers defence as he looks to recover from a thigh injury. Rob Kiernan, Clint Hill and Philippe Senderos are all vying for a place in front of goalkeeper Wes Foderingham.
The Gers face Tommy Wright’s high flying St. Johnstone on Wednesday, as they look to leapfrog Wright’s side at Ibrox to move into the top three.
Mark Warburton’s side have their work cut out if they want to catch Brendan Rodgers’ league leaders Celtic though, who sit four points clear with a game in hand.
In other Rangers team news, this fringe player deserves more of a role with the 54-time Scottish Champions.
