Napoli have made an approach for Tottenham midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, according to a report.

Football Insider revealed last month that Spurs are ready to sell the 21-year-old this summer even though he signed a new contract only 10 months ago.

Bentaleb slipped down the White Hart Lane pecking order this season after being an integral figure in 2014-15.

The Daily Mail claim Napoli are keeping a watchful eye on the midfielder and have already made contact with Spurs to request further information on him.

The Algeria international broke into the first team in 2013-14 when he played 15 times, before doing even better in the following season alongside Ryan Mason in central midfield.

He was rewarded with a new contract last summer that runs until 2020.

However, he has suffered two serious injuries this season and has lost out to Mousa Dembele, Eric Dier and Dele Alli in the race for the midfield roles.

As reported by Football Insider, Tottenham are also keen on signing midfield enforcer Victor Wanyama from Southampton this summer, which would further push Bentaleb down the pecking order.

In other Tottenham news, fans took to Twitter to berate Rio Ferdinand after his comments about the club.
