Former defender Adam Virgo has revealed to Celtic fans that he was always confident that Moussa Dembele would be good signing.
French wonderkid Dembele struck his fourth goal in two Old Firm derbies, as Celtic secured a late 1-0 win at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon to see them progress into the final of the Betfred Cup.
Virgo, who played for Celtic for three years between 2005 and 2008, revealed on his personal Twitter account that he believed the striker was always going to become a fan favourite.
Dembele, 20, struck in the 87th minute after Leigh Griffiths reached the byline down the right flank, before centring the ball for Dembele to skillfully finish from close range.
The striker, who signed from Fulham earlier this summer, has already scored 14 goals this season in all competitions in just 20 matches.
One of Brendan Rodgers’ five signings this summer, Dembele has hit the ground running and has become one of the first names the 47-time Scottish champions’ team sheet.
The win against Old Firm rivals Rangers has booked Celtic’s place in the Betfred Cup final, with Aberdeen standing in the Hoops’ way of landing their first piece of silverware this season.
Virgo made just 12 appearances for the Scottish giants during his three-year spell, with injuries preventing him from taking to the field.
In other Celtic news, Chris Sutton has had this to say about Rangers boss Mark Warburton.
