Ian Holloway has backed Aston Villa to record back-to-back wins and beat Fulham 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Sky Sports pundit Holloway noted the importance of the Villa Park supporters ahead of the weekend clash, following their 2-1 win against Reading on Tuesday night.
That victory was the first three points for manager Steve Bruce since taking charge and the first win for Villa on the road since August 2015.
Now, former promotion winning boss Holloway has praised the recently-appointed Bruce and revealed who he thinks can carry Villa to victory at the weekend.
“All hail king Steve!” Holloway wrote in his Sky Sports column. “Bruce guided Aston Villa to their first away win since August 2015 on Tuesday at Reading and I think the positive vibes from that game should help the atmosphere at Villa Park.
“Those Villa players need their fans at the moment as they are struggling with their confidence. I remember at Blackpool, the crowd stuck with us whatever the score and it played a huge part in our success.
“Fulham will be a tough nut to crack, but if Villa get the first goal, I think they’ll make it back-to-back wins.”
The late victory in midweek pushed Villa out of the relegation zone and into 18th place, with 14 points from 13 games.
Bruce’s side have picked up one draw and one win since he replaced Roberto Di Matteo as manager.
Villa are unbeaten at home this season, with one win and five draws to their name as they welcome London outfit Fulham to the Midlands.
In other Aston Villa team news, three players are expected to be axed as Villa host Fulham on Saturday afternoon.
