Ian Holloway has predicted Aston Villa to lose 1-0 away at Ipswich on Saturday afternoon, despite suggesting it will be easier for Roberto Di Matteo’s side to perform away from home.

Sky Sports pundit Holloway has backed Mick McCarthy’s men to continue their good form and pile more misery on the Midlands side at Portman Road.

Di Matteo’s men have picked up one win in seven games and Holloway expects that search for another victory to go on.

“It will be easier away from home for Villa than at home,” Holloway wrote in his Sky Sports column. “But Mick [McCarthy] did not let me down the other day when I said they would win, and they did [at Derby].

“I am stuck between a draw and a home win…. However, I am going to go for a 1-0 home win with Ipswich on a bit of a roll at present.”

Ipswich lie in ninth position in the Championship table having picked up 11 points from seven games with three wins to their names.

In contrast, Villa have not picked up an away victory since the first game of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign.

Di Matteo’s side have thrown away a potential seven points this term through conceding late goals, as was illustrated in their previous three home fixtures.

The Midlands outfit conceded goals in the 86th, 87th and 88th minute against Huddersfield, Nottingham Forest and Brentford respectively, much to the frustration of their Italian manager.
