Ian Holloway has backed Aston Villa to beat Blackburn in their Championship clash at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon.

Sky Sports pundit Holloway has predicted Steve Bruce’s side to record a comfortable 2-0 victory against Owen Coyle’s men.

The Villans drew their last league fixture 1-1 against bitter rivals Birmingham, with the Midlands giants unbeaten in Bruce’s first four games in charge.

Former promotion winning manager Holloway expects that run to continue at the weekend, as he explained why Villa’s fortunes have changed in recent weeks.

“I can only see Villa winning this,” Holloway wrote in his Sky Sports column. “I just think they have turned the corner and will be confident now after that draw away at Birmingham. And with the way their season has gone so far, that is another feather in Steve Bruce’s cap.”

Bruce is tasked with helping Villa gain instant promotion this season, but the club find themselves six points adrift of the final play-off spot.

They are 15th in the league table with 18 points from their 15 games, but they have won two of their last three league encounters.

Villa face a Rovers side, who are struggling at the bottom end of the table, as they are in the relegation zone with 13 points.

In other Aston Villa team news, this is the best possible starting XI for Villa to face Blackburn, with Ross McCormack and Jack Grealish starting.
