Brazil boss Tite has told Liverpool star Coutinho to “follow the moment” ahead of their World Cup qualifying double header.
The South American giants face Bolivia on Friday, before travelling to Venezuela on Wednesday as they look to book their place at Russia’s 2018 World Cup.
In quotes published by Liverpool’s official website, former Corinthians manager Tite revealed that Coutinho’s passing, mobility and influence have been the reason behind Liverpool fans calling him “the magician.”
“There’s a reason he is called the Magician,” Tite said, in quotes published by Liverpool’s website. “With his passes, Coutinho opens the lines, creates space. I like his mobility, he was influential in both [previous qualifying] games when he came on.
“Right now this is Coutinho’s moment. And in football, you have to follow the moment.”
Coutinho has been the architect of much of Liverpool’s attacking play this season, orchestrating attacks from the middle of the pitch. Four goals have also been scored by the 24-year-old, in just eight league and cup encounters.
Liverpool’s number 10 is now vying for place in Tite’s starting eleven, as they look to overtake Uruguay into first place in South America’s eight-team qualifying group.
Four wins from eight games, and only one loss, has put Tite’s side within touching distance of qualifying. An expected six points against Bolivia and Venezuela will mean Coutinho and co. will be on the plane to Russia in less than two years’ time.
