Jamie Redknapp has compared Tottenham sensation Dele Alli to former team-mate Steven Gerrard.
Ex-Liverpool and Spurs midfielder Redknapp is convinced that the 19-year-old midfielder is the closest thing he has seen to the Anfield legend.
Alli has won numerous plaudits in what has been a sensational debut Premier League season, with his performances in midfield for Spurs being key to the team’s rise.
TV pundit Redknapp is the latest name on the former MK Dons man’s burgeoning list of supporters and believes he could achieve anything he wants in the game.
Alli has scored four league goals in 17 appearances, 14 of which he has started, this season and Redknapp sees similarities with the Premier League all-time great.
“I can’t tell you how impressed I am with Dele Alli, as a midfield player, a young player, how exciting he is,” Redknapp told Sky Sports on Wednesday night.
“He plays with no fear. We were lucky enough to play with Steven Gerrard and he’s the closest thing I’ve seen to Stevie.
“This kid is fantastic, he’s got so many good years ahead of him.”
Spurs will start 2016 fourth in the Premier League on 35 points, lying just four points behind leaders and big rivals Arsenal.
Redknapp observed: “It’s a case of belief now for Tottenham, do they want to believe ‘we can win this title this year’? It’s up for grabs, make no mistake, nobody is taking it by the scruff of the neck.
“Tottenham, if they believe, who knows what they can achieve?”
