Karren Brady has hit out at Stan Collymore after he wrote an open letter to Jack Grealish urging him to “become boring” if he is to reach his full potential at Aston Villa.

The club have launched an investigation after the 21-year-old midfielder was caught up in another controversy this week when he allegedly took nitrous oxide at a Birmingham party.

The Telegraph claim that Villa are weighing up suspending their star player for Saturday’s league clash against Newcastle after manager Roberto Di Matteo took dim view of his latest brush with trouble.

Former Villa striker Collymore wrote an open letter to Grealish on Thursday in which he urged the youngster to quit partying, stay at home and maximise his immense potential.

Broadcaster and pundit Collymore, who is widely regarded as failing to maximise his own talent after failing to reach the heights in the second half of his playing career, does not want Grealish to make the same mistakes he made after his £7million transfer to boyhood club Villa.

West Ham managing director Brady had her say on the issue in her weekly column in the Sun newspaper and was unimpressed by Collymore’s hypocritical stance.

“Every so often the public eye swivels on to a young player’s public behaviour,” Brady said. “Aston Villa’s 21-year-old prospect Jack Grealish is the latest, after he adds to his ballooning reputation by attending a party that caused mayhem in a Birmingham hotel shortly after his team’s draw at Ipswich.

“And who should write an open letter of the “it’s all wrong, Jack” sort? Yes, Stan Collymore, having evidently abandoned his juvenile satanic behaviour to take holy orders.”

Grealish made his debut for Aston Villa in 2014 and he has been tipped for big things at Villa Park.

However, former manager Tim Sherwood warned the young winger to grow up, while Remi Garde dropped him to the youth team after similar incidents.

Many fans are now hoping that Grealish doesn’t follow the likes of Lee Hendrie, Luke Moore and Gabby Agbonlahor, who were all tipped to be superstars after emerging from the Villa ranks, but failed to reach their potential for various reasons.

In other Aston Villa team news, fans have likened Grealish to troubled footballer Ravel Morrison on Twitter.
