Laurent Koscielny will undergo a fitness test ahead of Arsenal’s FA Cup clash against Hull on Saturday.
Arsene Wenger has revealed that the Gunners’ first choice centre-back is expected to be available for the fifth-round tie at Emirates Stadium but must first prove his fitness.
Koscielny suffered a dead leg in the opening period of Arsenal’s dramatic 2-1 Premier League win over Leicester last Sunday and was withdrawn at half-time.
But the France international has recovered and is in contention to play at the weekend.
“Koscielny will be available,” Wenger said at his media briefing on Friday. “He has a test today.”
Wenger could decide to rest Koscielny against Hull and keep him fresh for the landmark matches next week against Barcelona and Manchester United.
Arsenal host the all-conquering Spanish giants on Tuesday before travelling to Old Trafford to face United five days later.
In other Arsenal team news, Wenger confirmed that, as revealed by Football Insider on Wednesday night, Gabriel is out of the Hull match, and is also set to be sidelined for the Barcelona and United fixtures, after returning to Brazil for treatment on a hamstring injury.
“Paulista is still out, he will need another week,” the manager said.
